Philip Summerton is Chief Executive Officer of Cambridge Econometrics group.
From a research perspective, Phil specialises in the communication of the economics of policy for governments, NGOs and international governmental organisations. In particular, the potential impact of climate and environment policy on economic development.
Phil has directed consultancy projects for the European Commission, OPEC, the European Climate Foundation, the Committee on Climate Change, the Department for Energy and Climate Change, WWF, Transport & Environment, and many other national and supranational bodies engaged in the low carbon transition. Topics covered include decarbonising transport, energy security, energy efficiency, carbon budgets, carbon leakage and competitiveness, renewable energy deployment, capacity markets, energy and emissions projections, environmental tax reform, circular economy business models and fuel poverty.
Phil was a member of the Climate Change Committee’s working group on the economics of net zero in the UK. He regularly presents research findings at high profile launch events, including The European Parliament, The British House of Commons, The Danish Parliament and at UNFCCC meetings.
